I was walking along in Greenwich Village the other night, when something struck me. I had always thought of New York as a city of visual enticement. Everywhere you turn from Times Square to Central Park, there is something compelling to see. It's crowded and noisy though, and once immersed for long enough, you tend to turn inward and seek some privacy through ignoring the very thing that stands out at first about it - the visual panorama of activity.
