The Magic Pill

Daybreak, another one announced by your alarm. Thinking, God I hate that sound, staying in bed. It goes off a second time; you doze off again, dreading its sound to come, inevitable, after the final ten-minute snooze expires. You drift back into a deep slumber. Again, it goes off. After the third and final chirping melody, you stumble out from under, leaving the warmth of your sheets.

True Father

I don’t know if I have what it takes to articulate how great a man my father is, I don’t know if I possess the talent or skill to accurately portray the amazing dad he has been to me, but I will try my best.

What makes a father a great dad?  Is it just being there by his son’s side supporting without question?  Do all great fathers defend their son’s through all of their mistakes and faults?

A life sized manikin stood on the quarterdeck, looking like an amphibious Darth Vader commanding the bridge of an imperial ship; that sign proudly hung around its neck.

Bully or Hero

Who hasn’t been bullied?

Most of the people reading this, if not all, have been bullied in some painful shaming way at some time in their life.  If you’re my friend then you know I don’t look like or act like someone who has ever been bullied.  You’d be wrong to assume so...

Devils Island

I was young and wild when I embarked on the journey of a lifetime.  My fellow warriors and I were destined for a legendary place.

Just off the coast of French Guiana sits Devil’s Island and the remains of one of the worst prison colonies in history.  Prisoners who called this place home were trapped, surrounded by water and the menacing South American jungle that lay beyond.
