In Denver my friend Patrick once had a roommate named David London - a piano rocker. A real talent who used the place as a studio. He was considered seriously big in Japan, but almost always missed paying the rent.

I think I'm a Magician/Warrior (based on my superficial knowledge of KWML). AND I fail -almost always- to pay my bills on time...

I'm very detailed and systematic about the most retarded things or when developing my crafts, but in the big picture... CHAOS!

So I guess I'm messed up or totally integrated - move over Chris!

Thanks for turning me on to Chris Cornell's new stuff. Sounds like Seal. But WTF is up with "Part of Me"? I'm like, "talk to the hand."

So much so that I've stopped listening to bands of old that I have long liked because their lyrics are very depressive or focused on incorrect (i.e. non-Omega) concepts of love. Do we listen to emo music or country and become more depressed b/c of it? Does listening to 80s hairband rock make us more masculine and take on the 'tude and be more reptilian with women? I think that's an interesting avenue to explore, how lyrics and emotion in a song might influence one's boundaries, emotions, and beliefs.

Yep. Most lyrics are about suffering. But, there are those positive gems that pop up to remind us of the good stuff (Ice Cube's "Today Was A Good Day," Alanis Morrissette's "Hand In My Pocket," Seal's "The Right Life").

Most of the songs I save to my mp3 player are dance instrumentals or songs with lyrics that promote positive self-worth and inspire creative thinking or success. Helps a lot when I'm on a 3hr grind on the bike.

Nice tip, Dr. Paul. I was really impressed with his voice when listening to his songs posted to his Myspace page, although the sound departs drastically from "Like A Stone."

I'm really looking forward to exploring what you're going to create for us in December! I love this type of creative energy. Thanks so much for putting the inspiring thought out there for us! Just.Fking.Awesome!

Sounds like Seal eh? Interesting... Yea, Chris's earlier stuff is more what I'm into - 'Euphoria Morning' is just unreal! And I can sing 'Like A Stone' - but the wind has to be blowing right, and I have to be facing a certain direction, and I have to 4 days of warmups....eh....yea pretty hard to nail it but what a rush when do!!

You should check out Mark Lanegan and Alice in Chains too - brilliant vocals!!

And CreamyGoodness - thanks for the AHA! Moment - I always wondered why I loved really heavy music and some really depressing but beautiful music. It' because, as you say, Lover types are into emotionally charged music - I'm Magcian/Lover. Cool.

As for depressing/emo music, I reckon once you are listening whilst not taking it to heart but just enjoying it's groove, then it's ok. It can actually make you happy if you have the right attitude! Works for me anyway!

Since Dr. Paul did the DVD program "Deep Inner Game" with a certain kingly gentleman that teaches men to be more "humorous and confident" (i.e. magician-like), I've also thought of how KWML fits in with all kinds of culture phenomena, for example music preferences.

I can very well relate to CreamyGoodness's observation that a lot of times people listen to music that corresponds with their KWML but more often than that, I see people both listening to their corresponding music style AND listening to their opposite, perhaps depending on factors like mood, energy level, being under stress etc. Perhaps also in unconscious search for the complementary energy they themselves lack, e.g. a lover temperamented person listening to hardrock and a more warrior temperamented person listening to softer, romantic tunes - and as a typical hardass warrior, of course not advertising or even admitting it publically ...

As a more lover-king temperamented personality (about 40 % lover, 30 % king, 20 % warrior, 10 % magician), one of my music preferences for more than 35 years (beginning when I first heard "La jeune fille de la mer" by Vangelis back in 1973 and "Oxygene" by Jean Michel Jarre in 1976) has been melodious electronic music like e.g. Jean Michel Jarre, Tangerine Dream (phase 1980-1985), Klaus Schulze, Claude Larson, Cusco, Yanni, Vangelis, Michael Garrison, Michael Rother, Wolfgang Riechmann, Christopher Franke (ex Tangerine Dream), Frank Duval, Johannes Schmoelling, Klaus Doldinger (album "Constellations"), Enya, Maire Brennan, Nova, Peru, Mind over Matter - and many many more ...

And last but not least, the more kingly-technical guys I know that like to listen to electronic pop music seem to have one preference in common - they like "Kraftwerk"s heavily synthesizer-vocoder-based albums (e.g. Autobahn, Trans Europe Express, Radio Activity, Man Machine, Computer World, Electric Cafe, Tour de France) ...

 I have to chime in here given my boorish and emarrassingly large and diverse music library  ....
I have found, by and large, that magicians and lovers tend to be more open minded and adventurous when it comes to music.

This isn't 100% true in my experience but a LOT of times it is.

For example, I have a friend of mine who is a king. We both love, among other things, electronic music.

BUT
he likes music that is more linear and has a steady, predictable beat progression (like Trance), whereas I prefer music that keeps you guessing, throws off your expectations (such as Trip Hop, IDM, Drum & Bass, Etc...)
I even see this applicable to jazz. We both like Jazz, but I prefer the more esoteric, whereas he enjoys more structure.
Also with Rock. He prefers classic rock (Zeplin), whereas I prefer more postmodern avant garde (Aloha).
Same BROAD category, but the main difference is, yet again, how many changeups occur amidst the song. Yet even still, We do find common ground amongst more popular bands (Pearl Jam and bands of that era), etc.

There are exceptions, though. Sometimes I like mellow tracks with a steady beat, sometimes he likes crazier, spastic improvisations.

 Interesting, isn't it?

I've been looking for a direct 1:1 correlation with music amongst temperaments and i've been able to predict it with SOME accuracy but it's not totally perfect....
There's also a generational/cultural era aspect.
Example, My parents have a similar temperament as myself, but they can't be bothered to check out most of the music I listen to, heh, which is cool.

They DO dig the more mellow stuff like DJ Shadow, Baby Mammoth, Esthero, Etc.

This also reminds me of howard gardner's research on musical intelligence, as well as the work Oliver Sacks has done on how music affects the brain. Cool Stuff!
One thing is certain: Music has a DIRECT affect on our brainwaves, no question about it. I always like to advise that we choose our music carefully while being open to exploration
And Gwar is amusing, even a bit hilarious, but makes me a bit sick to my stomach, heh.

Here are some tracks I dig, if this helps any. By no means, comprehensive, but a taste:

Most of this is mellow/trippy, some rock tunes, just so you know what to expect...

In a recent experiment, crass, loud, popular guitar rock played repeatedly at high volume in my car has been making feel, and think, like a bit of a douchebag.
