XMAS GIFTS

XMAS GIFTS

Postby Paul Dobransky MD » Thu Dec 30, 2010 12:27 am

I want to say Padyo is a dirty dog.

He unexpectedly and boldly sent me one of the coolest gifts I've gotten.

It's a 40 some year old book, looks weathered, and has gilded art in it that looks as if it's hand painted. The story is a fairy tale, only 50 pages long - PERFECT! - and yet it is true history about a King in fourteenth century France and Italy.

The kind of thing one can analyze, but enjoy. Could it be the beginning of MMP 4.0?

Thank you Padyo!!!!!!!!!

hey, Dr. Paul, I recently took a course at university on medieval literature and there were 2 stories I thought you might find interesting.

Bisclavret by Marie De France

And

Sir Gawain and the Green Knight

Both of these seemed to me to illustrate different aspects of Masculinity, and I thought maybe they'd be helpful to you in the future.

Hey thanks man!

I'll see if I can update you on this one too. It's cool. Guy wakes up and a page named Desire has stolen the heart right out of his chest. The enemies of the god of love are Fear, Denial, and Shame according to this story.

Ok WOW...

check this out...

Denial is a higher brained boundary effect - the most immature ego defense.

Fear is a mammalian-brained emotion, and the opposite of confidence, which is emotionally attractive in the Warrior or Magician sense.

Shame, by my definition is the cut-down of masculinity (or femininity)...

Wow, the "three enemies" of Love in the book Padyo gave me for xmas cover all three brains!

That's awesome, Dr. Paul!

It's amazing how you pull insights out of things like that. I hope to someday be just as good at it.

BANG!!!

Unreal eh?

That book is freakin' Mythical man I swear...

It's been gathering dust in a box in a attic since a wonderful girlfriend gave it to me over ten years ago. It was purchased in a used bookstore in Liverpool, England.

What a story!! A real guy writing a universal story, true of all men but with some new understanding that he was trying to figure out for himself as a story-teller (a 'caring and kind' King to be exact), way back then (in medieval France no less) and that centuries in the future can be scientifically analysed and re-told, to be useful to thousands of men, by a dude in Chicago with white sunglasses and a fur coat!!!! The Good King of Illinois!

Wow man that is awesome, thank you. It's interesting too that this king is heir to territories and lands etc, and has to be pretty patient before the time is right to take over them...

It is super cool that that guy a.) wrote about love b.) tried to explain it through story but c.) it wasn't just story for story's sake - it was to explain some principles about it. Which I guess then makes it an allegory...

This is the kind of thing my colleagues would do a whole Salon about - group discussion like a symposium...

I'm going to dig in to this one -wow - it even has a history through you - ten yrs ago - originated in Liverpool - then found its way all the way to the other side of the world to the south, then to the other side of the world to the east...

... I think this means I need to transport it to australia, india and asia too to complete the journey...
